Since the topic has changed, I am going to change the subject line.

In general, unless he is working very, very hard, you do not need electrolytes. Just just plenty of salt. 1-2 ounces with more for sweating. The vast majority of hays have plenty of potassium. Your salt will provide sodium and chloride.
